Why TNFD Compliance Is No Longer Optional

What is the TNFD?
The TNFD is a global initiative that provides a structured framework for organizations to assess, manage, and disclose nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities.
It builds on the success of the TCFD, expanding the focus to include biodiversity, ecosystems, and natural capital.
By aligning with the TNFD, you can:
- Strengthen your climate and nature strategies
- Stay ahead of regulatory requirements
- Build resilience and enhance reputation
Why TNFD Matters for Your Business:
Operational Resilience: Identify and address dependencies on nature, such as water, land, and biodiversity, before they disrupt your supply chain and business continuity.
Nature-Positive Opportunities: Identify and capture the opportunities that come with the nature-positive transition.
Regulatory Alignment: Stay ahead of emerging disclosure requirements and avoid costly compliance surprises by aligning early with global nature-related reporting standards.
Investor Confidence: Show investors you are proactively managing nature-related risks, strengthening transparency, and meeting growing disclosure expectations.
Reputational Advantage: Enhance stakeholder trust and brand credibility by demonstrating leadership on nature-related issues.

The TNFD LEAP Approach
The LEAP approach is a key component of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) recommendations, offering a practical framework for organisations to identify, assess, manage, and ultimately disclose their dependencies and impacts on nature, as well as the associated risks and opportunities. This framework is not a mandatory requirement for adopting TNFD recommendations but serves as a suggested guide to help organizations determine what information is material to disclose.
The TNFD emphasizes that the LEAP approach is an iterative and repeatable process, encouraging organizations to consider the scope of their assessment, engage with Indigenous Peoples, Local Communities, and other affected stakeholders, and seek third-party expert advice when necessary.
