Natcap Partners with ecoinvent to Strengthen Nature Impact Assessments

London & Zurich, 3 March 2026 – Natcap today announced a strategic partnership with ecoinvent, the internationally recognised provider of high-quality Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data, to strengthen the scientific foundation and global coverage of its nature intelligence platform.
Through this partnership, Natcap integrates ecoinvent’s comprehensive Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) database into its methodology, enhancing the scalability, credibility, and coverage of its nature-related impact assessments.
ecoinvent, based in Zurich, Switzerland, is an internationally recognised provider of high-quality Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data that develops and maintains one of the world’s most widely used LCI databases. Its database covers thousands of processes across energy, chemicals, materials, transport, waste, agriculture, forestry, textiles, and other sectors, with the geographic and sectoral granularity required for robust environmental impact modelling.
By incorporating ecoinvent’s industry-leading LCI data, Natcap enhances its ability to model impact intensity and magnitude scores across commodities and supply chains with greater precision.
“Credibility and scalability are essential as nature moves to the centre of corporate decision-making,” said Dr Beccy Wilebore, Chief Science Officer at Natcap. “Our partnership with ecoinvent ensures that the insights we provide our clients on their nature impacts are grounded in the highest-quality life cycle data available globally. This strengthens the scientific defensibility and auditability of our analysis, giving executives, investors, and regulators confidence in the decisions they make.”
“Partnering with Natcap is a natural fit for ecoinvent's mission”, said Ondrej Szabo, Chief Revenue Officer at ecoinvent. “Our LCI database is a critical layer in unlocking business decisions, and through the inclusion of our data in Natcap's nature intelligence platform, we are enabling companies to move to actionable, board-ready insights. This is exactly the kind of application we want to see our data powering, and it couldn't come at a better moment. The IPBES Business and Biodiversity Assessment, published just this month, confirmed that access to reliable data remains one of the biggest barriers stopping businesses from acting to protect nature. This partnership is a direct response to that challenge.”
Solving the Coverage and Scalability Challenge
As demand grows for supply chain-related nature assessments, companies require reliable coverage across an expanding range of commodities and geographies. Without a scalable, auditable, and extensible data foundation, organisations face constrained commodity coverage and reduced confidence in their analysis.
By embedding ecoinvent’s LCI data into its platform, Natcap strengthens:
-
Global commodity coverage across complex supply chains
-
Defensible, audit-ready nature-related impact assessments built for board- and investor-level scrutiny
-
Transparency and auditability of underlying methodologies
-
Scalable expansion into new sectors and geographies
From Impact Data to Actionable Insight
Natcap helps companies evaluate nature-related impacts across their supply chains to understand which products, commodities and locations, down to the sub-national level, drive the greatest impacts on nature.
Using Natcap’s platform, organisations can:
