See how it works...London, UK – 25 September 2024 – Natcap announced today that it has collaborated with the Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT) to add IBAT’s biodiversity datasets to its nature intelligence platform, giving Natcap customers access to the world’s leading global biodiversity datasets. This is a significant addition to Natcap’s comprehensive data suite that enables businesses to assess and disclose their nature-related risks and opportunities in line with regulatory requirements.
London-based Natcap helps organisations embed nature into their decision making to future-proof against nature-related risks, capture nature-related business opportunities and meet regulatory requirements with confidence. Natcap was founded in 2018 by leading professors at the University of Oxford, with a focus on bringing the best available science to businesses to tackle the nature crisis. Natcap recently announced a $10 million Series A fundraise, with investment from André Hoffmann, Norinchukin Capital, and more.
The Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT) hosts and maintains several key global biodiversity datasets from its member organisations, including the World Database of Protected Areas, the IUCN Red List and the World Database of Key Biodiversity Areas. The datasets are updated throughout the year, making them highly valuable for organisations serious about understanding and reducing their impact on nature. IBAT is a product of the IBAT Alliance, which includes members BirdLife International, Conservation International (CI), International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and UN Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC).
Quote from Beccy Wilebore, Chief Science Officer at Natcap:
“IBAT’s datasets are a significant addition to our platform. The integrity of the data, from the world leading organisations for biodiversity conservation, will enable our scientists to deliver the highest quality insights for our customers and, ultimately, mean that businesses can make better decisions for nature and their operations.”
Quote from Ed Ellis, Head of IBAT:
“I’m delighted by the collaboration between IBAT and Natcap. The incorporation of protected areas, Key Biodiversity Areas and threatened species into Natcap’s nature intelligence platform will help businesses better understand their potential impact on the natural world, and help expand the role that biodiversity data can have in guiding decision making across different sectors and industries.”
