Conducting a TNFD LEAP Assessment for a Leading Automotive Dealership

Sapporo Toyota is the regional Toyota vehicle distribution group in Japan. Sapporo Toyota was looking to run a TNFD LEAP assessment, focused on its 39 operational sites, as Sapporo Toyota operates within Hokkaido, one of the most nature-rich areas of Japan.

APPROACH

The project followed the TNFD LEAP framework:

Locate & Evaluate phases: 
Analysed site data with global geospatial datasets to identify nature-sensitive locations and assess key nature dependencies and impacts across Sapporo Toyota’s sites. Although Sapporo Toyota's sites are unlikely to have very low impacts and dependencies on nature, 74% are located within 5km of highly nature-sensitive areas; any business activity should be considered of heightened focus.

 

Assess phase:
Assessed 24 risks. Risks of higher concern are concentrated in regulation, legal and reputational risks, mainly linked to the site proximity to nature sensitive areas. Physical risks are generally very low across the portfolio. 

IMPACT
