Piraeus Bank

Embedding nature dependencies, impacts and risks into decision-making

CHALLENGE

Piraeus Financial Holdings needed to conduct a robust, scalable LEAP analysis to understand portfolio impacts, risks, and opportunities in line with TNFD, and communicate the business value of nature to internal and external stakeholders. They also required support to produce a TNFD-aligned report capturing all nature-related work to inform their strategic integration of nature.

SOLUTION

Piraeus Financial Holdings partnered with Natcap’s science and advisory teams to move their nature strategy and assessment approach forward.

Our approach included:

  • Granular LEAP assessment: Conducted location-specific assessments across key crops and livestock to give Piraeus a clear, data-driven view of nature impacts, dependencies and risks in its agriculture portfolio.
  • Scenario analysis: Evaluated 13 physical and transition risks across short-, medium- and long-term horizons, co-developing two tailored scenarios with the working group.
  • Upskilling: Delivered workshops introducing nature concepts across the organisation and deep-diving into scenario design and target-setting.
“Working with Natcap helped us better understand the ramifications of nature risks in our business portfolios. Building upon this collaboration we feel more confident as we continue our nature positive journey”.
